We are very fortunate to have fantastic leisure facilities as part of our hotel. The Barracuda Club boasts a 14 Meter Heated Swimming Pool, Sauna, Steam Room & Jacuzzi as well as a fully equipped gym. As well as being loved by our guests, the club operates as a private membership club.

The hotel is popular for large events including weddings, birthday celebrations and conferences. The hotel also boasts banqueting facilities including grand ballroom for up to 350 guests.

The hotel is centrally located right in the heart of Dumfries, 5 minutes from the train station and a stopping point on a number of bus routes.

Are you ready to embark on an exciting hospitality adventure?  The Cairndale Hotel and Leisure Club is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Hotel General Assistant to join our passionate team.  If you have a genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service and thrive in a fast-paced environment, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.


  • Provide outstanding customer service to all hotel guests, ensuring their needs and expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Assist with various tasks throughout the hotel, including setting up events, front of house duties and assisting guests with their inquiries.
  • Help with the smooth running of events and functions hosted at the hotel, ensuring preparations are in place and guests are satisfied.
  • Collaborate closely with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.


  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry is desirable but not essential; we welcome enthusiastic individuals who are eager to learn and grow.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and team members from diverse backgrounds.
  • A positive and professional attitude, with a genuine desire to exceed guest expectations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility working shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
